Dean Warner hails from Leeds,
England, a city steeped in a strong tradition of Irish Music. Encouraged by this
vibrant traditional Irish music scene and inspired by the great Piano Accordion
player John Ferguson, Dean has been playing the Piano Accordion from the age of
eight. It was through his association with Leeds Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann
that he developed a deep passion for ‘the music’.
In 2001 Dean moved to Northern
Ireland and now lives near Lurgan, County Armagh where music continues to be a
major part of his life. He won the All Ireland Senior Piano Accordion title in
Letterkenny (2005) and toured with Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann throughout
Ireland (2006), Britain (2007) and America/Canada (2007).
He also performed at the Asturias Music Festival,
Spain (2006) and the Shetland Accordion and Fiddle festival (2008). Dean
teaches, adjudicates, tutors at Scoil Éigse and other workshops, and is a
regular figure at sessions in Armagh and Tyrone.
Northern Box is Dean’s first
solo recording and is a collection of tunes which reflect his musical journey
from England to Ireland. He is joined on the CD by four other talented artists,
Ryan Molloy (Piano), Michael Harrison (Fiddle), Daire McGeown (Banjo) and Fintan
McManus (Bouzouki).
